Under the NSW State Budget for 2018-2019, new apprenticeships in building and construction, plumbing and electrics will be fee-free from 1 July 2018.

Students no longer have to pay up to $3,000 to learn a trade under the new scheme – meaning no more upfront training costs for students or employers. The scheme is designed to encourage more people to learn a trade in order to help cover the current skills shortage in traditional trades and meet demand.
